Roy Jones Jr vs Bernard Hopkins

Sixteen years after Roy Jones Jr. whooped Bernard Hopkins’ ass, the two over-the-hill fighters have signed a contract to face off for one last time in 2010.

“Sixteen years ago they fought each other and went on and made history in their own way,” said Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer. “Each one is considered today as ring royalty. That’s why I think when those two guys are going to fight it will be to determine who will be king of the ring. We went back and forth for so long, but we finally pulled it off. They both signed and they will fight. It will be a truly historic showdown. A lot of people didn’t believe it would ever happen. But guess what? It’s going to happen.”

We would have loved to seen this rematch 10 years ago. Hell, even 5 years ago it would have still been an interesting fight. Unfortunately, nobody cares to see these old geezers fight anymore.

As for a prediction, we’ll have to go with Jones. He won their first fight 16 years ago by a unanimous decision and even though he hasn’t aged quite as well as B-Hop, he still has the style that causes problems for the Executioner.
