Alabama coach Mark Gottfried resigns

In his 11th year with the basketball team, Mark Gottfried has resigned as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

“It has been a wonderful decade for me and my family, and I love the University of Alabama, but I feel that it is in the best interests of everyone involved,” Gottfried said in a statement released by the university. Read the rest of this entry »

North Carolina State’s hall of fame women’s basketball coach Kay Yow lost her battle with breast cancer and died Saturday at the age of 66.

“Whether one of her players, an opposing coach, a friend, an associate in the world of sports or one who observed her grace, dignity, elegance, kindness and competitive spirit from a distance, you couldn’t help but be touched by her presence in our world,” ACC Commissioner John Swofford said.
