Running Back Chris Johnson has refused to attend Tennessee Titans offseason workouts until the team shows him some love with a new contract a bunch more money. However, Johnson insists that he is not mad at the team and he will not hold any grudges regardless of what happens.
“I like my team. I’m not mad,’” Johnson said. “I am not sure what is going to happen. I am just working out right now trying to get stronger and faster, and just been focusing on my workouts. I’ve been trying not to pay attention to anything else, really.”
The Titans aren’t a great team without Chris Johnson, so just imagine how bad they would be without him. If Jeff Fisher wants to have any chance at making the playoffs in 2010, he better make sure his best player and the best running back in the league is a happy guy.
Tom Izzo has decided to continue being the head coach of the Michigan State Spartans and no longer flirt with the idea of going to the NBA and becoming the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
“Instead of coaching them in the NBA, I’m going to coach them in the NCAA,” Izzo said “I knew at the beginning that whatever decision I made would be a decision for life.
“I am going to be a lifer. This is what I’m going to be, and I’m damn proud of it.”
Don’t be fooled, Izzo wanted to go to the NBA and coach LeBron James, but the King refused to talk to Izzo and make a commitment to stay with the Cavs.
Tom Izzo will become a coach in the NBA someday. Bank on it.
The Lakers whooped up on the Boston Celtics. 89-67, in game 6 of the NBA Finals to force a game 7 on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
“I thought we’d play better, obviously,” Boston coach Doc Rivers said. “I thought we were ready. … We played an individual game tonight on both ends. We never gave ourselves an opportunity offensively, because we never trusted each other. Everybody was out to make their own place.”
Kobe Bryant played as great as always with 26-points, but it was the Lakers defense that made the big difference.
“Our defense was good, our rebounding was better,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “We had some good luck on some tips and offensive rebounds, and those things changed the course of the game.”
Considering game 7 is in Los Angeles, the Lakers will obviously win the Championship. The Celtics don’t stand a chance. Consider this one over.
In this interview Frank Shamrock bashes Jake Shields and comments on Chuck Liddell. He definitely convinces me that Jake Shields is a pansy ass who sucks at fighting, but he wouldn’t give a definitive answer either way on The Iceman.
Shamrock, just tell it like it is. Liddell needs to retire IMMEDIATELY!!!
There are many reasons why I’m not watching the World Cup. But to name a few, soccer is a gay sport, it’s boring, the Americans aren’t good at it, and because stupid people in South Africa think they have to blow these stupid horns the entire time.
Did I mention soccer is a gay sport? That’s a pretty important one…
If you just can’t get enough of the USA tie against England at the World Cup, then here’s another way to relive the epic match. Somebody with no live decided to waste a few hours of their life by recreating the even in Legos. Enjoy!!
It looks as if the Big 12 conference will stay together for at least a few more years after the Texas Longhorns have announced their decision to turn down a Pac-10 invite.
“University of Texas President Bill Powers has informed us that the 10 remaining schools in the Big 12 Conference intend to stay together,” Pac-10 commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. “We are excited about the future of the Pac-10 Conference and we will continue to evaluate future expansion opportunities under the guidelines previously set forth by our Presidents and Chancellors.”
This is absolutely the wrong decision for Texas. I understand that all the remaining Big 12 teams have been pleading with them to remain in the conference, but at the end of the day the Longhorns would have made more money and would have gained a bigger television audience if they would have moved to the Pac-10.
They chose tradition over money which is great for most college football fans, but bad for the school itself.
USA soccer goalie Tim Howard is supposedly making a great recovery from the bruised ribs he suffered against England this weekend and inside sources tell us he should be good to go against Slovenia on Friday.
“There’s no time for saying ‘next time’ or ‘unlucky’ when a mistake is made. At this level, when I say something, I want it done then and there because if (a mistake) doesn’t punish you, you’ve gotten lucky,” Howard said earlier in the week while convincing everyone that he wouldn’t miss any World Cup game for anything.
Without Tim Howard the England team may have scored 10 points on the Americans. He is possibly the best goalkeeper in the World and the USA will need him if they want to have any chance at winning any of their future games.
Not too long ago Vince Young wanted to kill himself, but Titans head coach Jeff Fisher didn’t let him and called the police to check up on him. As bad as this sounds, Coach Fisher may be regretting that decision today.
Above you can see Young trying to act like a thug while throwing punches at random people at Club Onyx in Texas. No word yet on exactly what he was arguing about, but the fact that Young couldn’t control his temper and had to throw punched tells you everything you need to know about him.
He’s the load his Mom wishes she would have swallowed.
It is finally time for the MMA legend Chuck Liddell to definitely call it a career and retire after getting knocked out cold by Rich Franklin on Saturday night at UFC 115.
“The game plan was to not stand in front of him, which I started to do a little bit,” Franklin said. “Keep the lead hand active. Once he kicked me in that arm and I could feel the arm clicking — I looked down at my forearm one time to kind of check it — it took me out of my game a little bit. It really did. He caught me there at the end, had me back against the fence, but I just kept my cover tight and tried swinging. Things landed.
The thing about Chuck, when he gets you on the run, he really, really overcommits on things.”
I don’t follow MMA too closely and I have no idea who Rich Franklin is, but I do know that Chuck Liddell is a legend of the sport and if it wasn’t for the Iceman I would have never ordered an MMA PPV event. His career may be over now, but let’s never forget just how good he once was.
And for the record, he could still beat the living shit out of Tito Ortiz.
