49ers Bench J.T. O’Sullivan
Interim head coach Mike Singletary clearly wants to change the attitude for the San Francisco 49ers; he started by kicking talented tight end Vernon Davis off the field during Sunday’s game against the Seahawks and today he has benched starting quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan in favor of Shaun Hill.
“When you look at J.T.’s capabilities and the arm strength and all of those things, you’d say, ‘Hey, maybe that guy gives us the best chance to win,’” Singletary said. “But if you look around the league, there are guys that are very talented, very smart … but they can’t play quarterback. J.T. has done a good job. He’s just been inconsistent.”
Great move by Singletary. Hill should have been the 49ers starting QB all along but O’Sullivan got the nod because of his familiarity with offensice coordinator Mike Martz’s system.
Hill doesn’t have a great arm but he’s a great leader and he knows how to manage the game.
