The Arena Football League has sent a letter to all of it’s teams stating that they are suspending operations indefinitely because they have been “unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months.”

The 22-year old indoor league has had a lot of trouble as of late and many expect them to file for chapter 7 bankruptcy in the near future.

“I’ve always thought the game was an attractive game, but we all know when you get the kind of pressure we’re in, in these economic times, and then you have an economic model that really doesn’t work, then it’s not surprising to see it stop play,” Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said.

I always enjoyed watching the AFL during the NFL’s offseason, so it’s sad to see the league shut down. Hopefully they’ll get things worked out and make a comeback in a couple years, but we’re not holding our breathe.
