Not even 5 days into the Euro 2008 and one of the co-host countries has been knocked out of the competition. Switzerland lost against the Czech Republic and then again against Turkey.

And Austria is on shaky legs after losing to Croatia.

So in a bid to get the players shall we say more motivated local business owners are coming up with their own incentives. A local Vienna brewery has offered a life long beer supply to any Austrian player who manages to score a goal in the remaining matches Austria has to play in its group.

At least they are giving the beer away for free. But sometimes these incentives can be a bad idea as a computer store Krudvat found out. The promotion offered €100 of a 400€ computer screen for every goal that Netherlands scored against Italy. The Dutch won 3:0 and Krudvat website crashed under the strain of punters looking for a good deal on a computer screen.
