After signing a one-year extension on Wednesday, Atlanta Braves manager Bobby Cox announced that he will retire following the 2010 MLB season.

“They asked me to come back, and I said I would do it for one more year, and we’ll announce the retirement along with it. It’s the only way I think I’m ever going to walk away from the game, is to go ahead and say I’m going to, and then I’ve got to,” Cox said. “There’s no turning back now — win, lose or draw. Whatever happens next year is going to be it.”

Cox, 68-year-old, has won Manager of the Year four-times and he’s undoubtedly one of the best managers in the history of Major League Baseball

He’ll be missed when he walks away for good.

After days of debating between the Mariners and Braves, Future hall of famer Ken Griffey Jr. has signed a one-year contract worth $2 million with Seattle.

“He’s coming home. … I can’t begin to tell you how ecstatic we are. He is, too,” Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik said on Wednesday night. “Arguably one of the greatest athletes to ever play in the Seattle area.”

Griffey is excited to return back to where it all started for him.

“A rejuvenated Ken Griffey coming back to where he started has to be a fabulous motivator for him,” Zduriencik said.

Seattle fans are jumping for joy after hearing this news.

The voice of the Atlanta Braves, Skip Caray has died at the age 68.

“Our baseball community has lost a legend today,” Braves president John Schuerholz said. “The Braves family and Braves fans everywhere will sadly miss him. Our thoughts are with his wife Paula and his children.”

“We’ve all lost a very good friend,” Braves manager Bobby Cox said. “For me, he was a good buddy — at the park and away from the park. We always had a lot of great laughs. He will be very sorely missed.”

Rest in peace Skip. Braves fans will deeply miss you.
