For a short period of time former Atlanta Hawks guard Josh Childress was considering returning to NBA, but after giving it some thought he has decided to return to Greece.

“When I left Greece to come back [here to the U.S.], I had it in my head that was going back to Greece no matter what,” Childress recently told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Then when I got home and had my feet on the ground for a couple of days, I really wanted to explore my options and see what was out there. It was 50-50 from there.”

Childress, 26, played 4 years with the Hawks before deciding to leave the NBA to pursue a pro basketball career in Greece. He averaged 13.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 steals last season with his Greek team the Olympiakos.

“My team did well, but there’s no question, I didn’t have the year I wanted to have,” Childress said. “And with that being said, I have some serious work left to do in Athens. That was part of my decision to go back, as well.”

Enjoy the rest of your career in Greece! Nobody in the United States really cares if you ever come back or not.

Mike Bibby has agreed to re-sign with the Atlanta Hawks for a new 3-year deal.

“We’ve reached an agreement in principle that hopefully will be announced very soon,” Bibby’s agent David Falk said.

According to sources, the deal is supposedly worth $18 million.

“It has been a very good environment for Mike,” Falk said. “He enjoys playing for Coach Woodson, who has allowed him to be a coach on the floor.”

Bibby averaged 14.9 points and 5.0 assists per game last season and he helped the Hawks advance to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers sweeped the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals after winning game 4 84-74 on Monday night.

“We’re glad to finish this series off,” said Cavs’ guard Wally Szczerbiak. “Now it’s time to go get our rest and get ready for the next series. We have some bumps and bruises to heal from in this series.”

After the game, LeBron James didn’t feel like celebrating.

“Why should we celebrate?” James said. “We’re playing for a championship. An advance is an advance. It doesn’t matter if you win in four games or you win Game 7. We’re happy that we’re playing great basketball … but we’re not taking for granted what we’re doing right now.”

Next up the Cavs will face either the Boston Celtics or the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference finals, and don’t be surprised if they sweep their opponent yet again.

The Cleveland Cavaliers continued their dominance over Atlanta Hawks 105-85 on Thursday night to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinal.

After the game LeBron James identified Cleveland’s key to success.

“Defense,” James said after the game. “That has been us throughout the whole series and the whole playoffs. When we get D stops it’s easy to execute on offense.

The Cavaliers will travel to Atlanta for game 3 on Saturday.

“We are a confident ballclub, we believe we can win on the road as well as at home,” James said. “It will be a hostile environment, but we know we can handle that.”

After waiting 9 days for their next game the well-rested Cleveland Cavaliers dominated the Atlanta Hawks 99-72 in the Eastern Conference semifinal opener on Tuesday night.

LeBron James prived while he’s the NBA MVP by leading his team with 34 points, 10 rebounds and 4 steals.

“I have never seen a player as young as LeBron, as strong as LeBron, as quick and as athletic as LeBron that has all the fundamental tools a player can have,” Hawks coach Mike Woodson said. “I have never seen that type of player in my lifetime. And he’s still young. That’s the scary thing.”

And you know what’s scarier?

I’m not sure the Hawks have what it takes to win a single game in this series.

The Atlanta Hawks sent Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat home for the rest of the NBA playoffs, beating them 91-78 in their game 7 matchup Sudnay afternoon.

Although his team was eliminated, Dwayne Wade is very excited about the future.

“I’m very encouraged by this season,” Wade said. “The team that won 15 games last year came back to win 43 games this year and took Atlanta to seven games in the playoffs. We’ve got something to build on.”

The Atlanta Hawks won’t last long, starting Tuesday night their 2nd round series will begin against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Atlanta Hawks have taken a 3-2 series lead over Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat on Thursday night, 106-91.

”We’re not going to let anybody beat up on us anymore,” Hawks guard Mike Bibby said. “We’re going to continue to give them the same treatment they’ve been giving us.”

Wade, battling back spasms, a sore shoulder and sore head after a collision early in the game, still managed to put up great numbers in a losing effort scoring 29 points.

No matter how hard he tries, Wade can’t do it all himself. The Hawks will win this series based on their better team play.

The Atlanta Hawks finally proved they can win away from home after winning their first playoff road game in nearly 12 years over the Miami Heat 21-71 on Monday night.

Hawks center Zaza Pachulia was a rebound whore, finishing the game with 18, while Mike Bibby led the team in scoring with 15 points.

While Hawks coach Mike Woodson was happy for the win he reminded his team the series isn’t over yet.

“It’s not over,” Woodson said. “We’ve got to go home now. We survived this trip and we’ve got to go home and handle our business at home in Game 5.”

While we still think the Heat will ultimately beat the Hawks, they won’t have it easy.

Dwyane Wade and his Miami Heat teammates bounced back from a horrible performance in game 1 on Sunday and beat the Atlanta Hawks 108-93 to tie the series 1-1.

Wade played much better than his pathetic game 1 performance, finishing the night with 33 points.

“He set the tone,” Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said. “Before I came out to talk to the team, right before the game, there was some joking and laughing in the locker room and I heard him tell everybody to shut up and get their minds on the game.”

If Wade can continue to play as good as he did tonight, the Heat should be able to win this series against the Hawks.
