Although the Ravens spent a good part of Sunday evening bitching to the media about the refs after their loss to the New England Patriots, the NFL has decided nobody will be fined for complaining.

But even on Tuesday the Ravens continues to bitch.

“I know Joe [Flacco] got hit [six] different times hard, and there was one call,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “There were five that weren’t called, and the one that was called was the sixth. Tom [Brady] didn’t get hit five times. We want him to be hit more than he was hit, but when he did sort of get hit, it was called. That goes to the credibility of the whole thing.”

The NFL is messing up big time if they don’t fine these guys. If Ray Lewis and his teammates don’t get punished for bitching about the refs what’s going to stop the next team from bitching? At the very least fine them each a petty $5000.

After the New England Patriots defeated the previously undefeated Baltimore Ravens 27-21 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday afternoon, future hall of famers Ray Lewis and Ed Reed blamed the loss entirely on the poor officiating by the referees.

“Without totally going off the wall here, it is embarrassing to the game,” linebacker Ray Lewis said while crying like a little bitch. “[Tom] Brady is good enough to make his own plays, let him make the play. When you have two great teams that are going at it, let them go at it. Both of their touchdown drives had personal fouls that kept drives alive. Did that win or lose the game? No, but it got them 14 points.”

Safety Ed Reed also commented on the officiating.

“Terrible,” Reed bitched to reporters. “Nothing to take away from anybody else’s job, but at some point, we have to be better about that. This game has evolved too much not to precise when there is a spot, when there is a penalty, when anything is going on on this field. We’re too smart as human beings.

“The history of the game — from where it’s been to where it’s come to — to not be precise … This is a game of inches. This has been a game of inches for years. Now you’re putting one person in charge, or two people in charge [of spotting the ball], and they’re making things bad. I swear it felt like 2007 almost, when we played the Patriots at home. They don’t need no help. They’re a great team. They don’t need any help from anybody. We don’t need any help from anybody. We definitely don’t need anyone taking it away from us.”

These two guys need to hold each other, drink some beer and drown their sorrows. The officiating wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t the worst either. Furthermore, the bullshit calls were equally distributed amongst both teams, so the Ravens have nothing to cry about. The Ravens didn’t lose because of the refs. They lost because Mark Clayton dropped a touchdown pass with just seconds remaining at the end of the game.

With just 37 seconds remaining in the game, future Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis made a spectacular play in the backfield – stopping Darren Sproles and the San Diego Chargers on 4th and 2 at the Ravens 15 yard line.

Lewis is calling it the best play of his 14-year career.

“That was probably one of the greatest plays of my career, because of my team — because of what we did as a team,” Lewis said.

Derrick Mason shocked a lot of people when he showed up to the Baltimore Ravens training camp and announced his return to football, just weeks after retiring from the league.

“It was a tough decision, but I think it was a good decision for me to come back,” Mason said in a statement. “I needed to evaluate my life, football and my career.

“I still have an intense fire inside me, and I want to play. … I felt like I had left something undone, and I wanted to finish it. I believe this is a good example for my son and my daughter on how to be thoughtful and also follow through.”

At 35-years old Mason isn’t that good of a receiver anymore, but unfortunately he’s still the best receiver the Ravens have. Baltimore is lucky Mason decided to return, but the Ravens still need to address the receiver position and acquire some more talent.

I suggest they offer Matt Jones a few hundred dollars and a 6 ounces of cocaine and they’d have themselves one hell of a receiver.

The Baltimore Ravens were excited when Drew Bennett signed with the team late last week. But just days after he signed, Bennett informed the team of his retirement from professional football.

“After returning home from Baltimore this weekend, a previous knee injury flared up, making me realize that I am unable to play another NFL season,” Bennett said. “Therefore, I have decided to retire from the National Football League. I want to thank Coach Harbaugh, Coach Cameron and Ozzie Newsome for offering me the opportunity to be a part of their outstanding organization, and apologize to them for this unfortunate situation.

Bennett continued to say he was excited to become a Raven, but now he’s looking forward to life after football.

“The Ravens are a first-class organization that I was truly excited to join. After an offseason of workouts and rehab I thought I was ready to play again, but it became apparent over this weekend that while my mind is willing, my body will not be able to make it through another NFL season. I have been blessed to have the opportunity to play in the NFL for as long as I have, but it is time for me to move on to the next chapter in my life.”

Asshole move by Bennett. He should have never signed in the first place.

The Baltimore Ravens made linebacker Terrell Suggs the highest paid linebacker in NFL history by signing him to a huge $63 million, 6-year deal on Wednesday.

“I’m looking forward to showing them that they didn’t make a mistake and they got the right guy,” Suggs said.

The Ravens are hoping Suggs can continue to be one of the top pass rushers in the league.

“Securing Terrell for six seasons gives us a premier pass-rusher whose ability to stop the run does not get enough credit,” Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said.

Suggs is a 6-year veteran, but he’s still ony 26-years old.

“This will be Suggs’ seventh season, and he is still a young player,” Newsome said. “Remember, he came to us as a 20-year old rookie after his junior year in college. This is a good day for the Ravens franchise.”

He’s a great player, but no defensive player is worth that much money.

Baltimore Ravens veteran wide receiver Derrick Mason has decided to call it a career after 12-years in the National Football League.

“After 12 years, I have seen it all and done it all,” Mason said. “Right now, I am content with the decision I am making. All good things come to an end, and I am ready to see what else life has to offer.”

Before he was a Baltimore Raven Mason spend 8 seasons with Steve McNair and the Tennessee Titans. He also became the 31st player in NFL history to reach 10,000 career receiving yards.

When the news first came out some people thought it was just a ploy to get a new contract worth more money, but Mason insists that’s not the case.

“I have made enough money, more than enough money,” Mason said.

Future Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis will remain a Baltimore Raven after agreeing to a new 3-year deal worth around $25 million on Wednesday.

“We got better today. Our football team got better. I am very happy,” general manager Ozzie Newsome said. “This will allow Ray to finish his career as a Raven.”

It would have been hard to see Lewis playing for a different team other than the Ravens.

“From beginning to end as a Raven. … Wow! To be with the same team with the same fans for an entire career, that doesn’t happen in the NFL,” Lewis said. “I don’t think an athlete can have a greater legacy than to be able to stay in one place for an entire career.”

Even though he’s lost a step in recent years Lewis still remains one of the best linebackers in the league.

The New York Jets have signed Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan to a 4-year contract making him their new head coach.

“It’s been a dream of mine to become a head coach in the NFL,” Ryan said in a statement. “Coming here to the New York Jets, where my father once coached and was part of the Super Bowl III staff, is fantastic. I look around at the facilities and the people they have in place and see a first-class organization. I’m just proud to be part of it.”

Ryan replaces Eric Mangini who led the team to a 9-7 record. He knows expectations are high in New York, and he’s up for the challenge.

“Any coach who believes in himself wants the opportunity, and it’s a great franchise,” Ryan said.

Ryan, the son of former NFL great coach Buddy Ryan, has controlled the Ravens defense since 2005 and he’s consistently had one of the best defenses in the league. I’m surprised no team has hired him before now.

After being the victim of one of the hardest hits ever seen Tavens running back Willis McGahee has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

I’m all right. Everything is OK,” MCGahee told reporters. “The MRI and the CAT scan checked out good. I was scared, but I didn’t know how serious it was. It was pretty intense.”

McGahee said the hit knocked him unconscious.

I blacked out. I woke up when they were taking my facemask off,” McGahee said. “I opened my eyes and I was talking. The next thing I knew I woke up in some room and they were taking me to the ambulance.”

“I felt like I was OK when I was on the ground, regained consciousness and starting moving,” he said. “But then they told me not to move, so I started to get a little worried. After we got inside they took X-rays and told me everything was OK.”

McGahee can consider himself lucky; he could have suffered a very serious injury.
