As Sports Crunch predicted, the Boston Celtics have won their 17th NBA championship after destroying the Los Angeles Lakers 131-92 in game 6 of the NBA finals.

“It means so much more because these are the guys, the Havliceks, the Bill Russells, the Cousys,” MVP Paul Pierce said. “These guys started what’s going on with those banners. They don’t hang up any other banners but championship ones, and now I’m a part of it.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics in game 5 of the NBA finals 103-98 on Sunday night.

“We were aggressive. We played hard,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “Not smart all the time, but we played hard.”

The Lakers didn’t play very well but it really didn’t matter because the Celtics played like absolute shit. Game 6 will be back in Boston on Tuesday night — Sports Crunch predicts a Celtics victory.

The Boston Celtics came back after a 24-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 97-91 in game 4 of the NBA Finals.

“We sucked it up,” Pierce said. “We said we weren’t going to back down. At the end of the third quarter I looked up at the scoreboard and told the fellas, ‘We just have to go out there and compete and let the chips fall where they may.”

The Celtics now lead the Lakers 3-1 in the series and will have a chance to win the Championship for the first time since 1986 with a victory on Fathers Day.

“It was not a beautiful ballgame,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “That’s a transition game from East Coast to West Coast. But we’ll have a day to catch up tomorrow and hopefully both of us will play better basketball on Thursday night.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Boston Celtics defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in game 1 of the NBA finals 98-88 but many Celtics fans had given up hope when Paul Pierce had to be carried of the court in the 3rd quarter with a knee injury.

“When I came down I thought I felt a pop, I thought I tore it,” Pierce said. “I couldn’t move.”

Coach Doc Rivers was also worried.

”I thought the worst,” Rivers said. ”When they carried him off, I just though it was the knee.”

However, with 5:04 remaining Pierce was able to check back into the game wearing a black elastic wrap on his knee.

”Everybody was rejuvenated (when Pierce returned),” said Kevin Garnett,. ”It was good to see him.”

When Pierce returned he gave the Celtics gained all the momentum they needed for the win.

The Boston Celtics are now headed to the NBA finals to take on the Lakers after they defeated the Detroit Pistons 89-81 in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Boston Celtics beat the Detroit Pistons 106-102 Wednesday night and now lead the Eastern Conference finals 3-2.

“We knew the significance of this game,” said Garnett, Who scores 33 points in the win “You don’t win this game, you put basically yourself in a corner. … They’re experienced, and they’ve been in a lot of pressure situations. Now it’s up to us to go up there and try to get one.”

This has been a competitive back and forth series so far and I’m sure the Pistons will force a game 7 by beating Boston on Friday.
