The 2009 NFL is now over and while many people think the Jets trade up to grab USC QB Mark Sanchez with the 5th overall pick was the best selection made over the weekend, I have to disagree. In fact, I believe Sanchez’s weak arm is a horrible fit for the Jets who are currently built for a gunslinger.

Our favorite pick was the Arizona Cardinals 31st overall selection of Ohio State’s Chris “Beanie” Wells.

Wells is an absolute beast who is every bit as talented as Adrian Peterson, with exception to his receiving ability. And what is the one thing the Cardinals lacked last season? A strong, powerful running game.

It’s starting to look like Anquan Boldin will end up back in Arizona next season so the Cardinals will have all of their key guys back and in addition, they’ll have a punishing rushing attack that just adds to their already unstoppable offense.

Get ready for the greatest show on turf all over again.

On a side note, the Raiders seriously took Darrius Heyward-Bey before Michael Crabtree?? Somebody needs to tell Al Davis to stop taking his medical marijuana during the draft.

Ohio State Buckeyes running back is listed as doubtful for Saturday nights matchup against the #1 USC Trojans.

“Beanie practiced about 20 carries yesterday, and maybe 20 percent of the practice,” Tressel said. “We didn’t have him work today. He had more soreness this morning than we had hoped for. A late afternoon practice followed by a morning practice, we’re hoping that’s a little bit of the reason why. So we’ll just have to play it by ear.”

Witout Wells the Buckeyes really don’t even stand a chance against USC. He must be in a lot of pain because I can’t imagine him sitting out this game unless he’s in excruciating pain.

Also if Wells doesn’t play in this game he can kiss the Heisman trophy goodbye.

Ohio State Buckeyes running back Chris “Beanie” Wells will miss the game against Ohio after injuring his foot in last weeks game against Youngstown State.

“Beanie won’t go this week,” Tressel said. “I feel good about his progress, but it wasn’t enough progress to practice through yesterday.”

Wells has been many peoples favorite to win the Heisman trophy this year but missing a game will severly hurt his chances at the prestigious reward.

The good news is he is expected to be back and near 100% when the Buckeyes take on Southern California on Sept. 13.
