Chris “Birdman” Andersen agreed to a new with the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday. The contract is for 5-years and could be worth as much as $26 million.

“You write the best-case scenario, think you’re dreaming and open your eyes and it’s real,” Anderson’s agent Mark Bryant said. “He’s very excited. They treated him as a priority.”

Great deal for both sides. Anderson needed the Nuggets just as much as the Nuggets needed him.

“They’ve really embraced him,” Bryant added. “I think it’s a win-win [situation]. They [the Nuggets] wanted him and he wanted to be here.”

The Los Angeles Lakers now lead the Western Conference finals 3-2 after beating the Denver Nuggets 103-94 on Wednesday night at the Staples Center.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 22-points but Lamar Odom was the star of the night with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Pau Gasol also played his part with 14 points of his own and 10 rebounds.

After the game the Lakers were already focusing all of their attention on game 6 which will take place Friday in Denver.

“Got to come ready to play,” Kobe Bryant said. “We made a lot of mistakes the last time, the mistakes that took place were execution, and we didn’t do things at the defensive end. We’ll come ready to play.”

Despite a horrible performance from Carmelo Anthony, the Denver Nuggets still found a way to dominate the Los Angeles Lakers 120-101 on Monday night to tie the Western Conference finals at 2-2.

“It just shows we have heart and can play with a man down,” Nuggets guard J.R. Smith said. “We did a lot this year and kept it up.”

With Anthony playing like crap, Chauncey Billups and J.R. Smith stepped up and led Denver with 24 points each. Kenyon Martin led the Nuggets with 15 rebounds, while Chris Anderson added another 14 rebounds of his own.

The Lakers will try to rebound on Wednesday night when game 5 takes place at the Staples Center.

The Los Angeles Lakers have taken a 2-1 series lead over the Nuggets in the Western Conference finals after winning game 3 103-97 on Saturday night in Denver.

“I rank this right up there with some of the biggest road wins we’ve had since I’ve been a Laker,” Kobe Bryant said. “Because, in the past we always had guys that had a lot of experience. Robert Horry, Rick Fox, Ron Harper, they’ve all been through this before. For our guys this is brand new.”

Bryant scored 41 points in the victory while Pau Gasol added 20 points of his own and 11 rebounds.

“I think Gasol was the key to them winning tonight,” Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony said after the game. “Getting him going and him making shots, it made it hard to double-team him and still try to guard Kobe out there.”

The Denver Nuggets beat the Los Angeles Lakers 106-103 in game 2 of the Western Conference finals on Thursday night at the Staples Center, tying the series 1-1.

“I think this is going to be a long series,” Denver coach George Karl said after the game.

Carmelo Anthony finished the night with 34 points and 9 points. Chauncey Billups added an additional 27 points and Kenyon Martin had 16 points.

“To get one on the road is always tough,” Anthony said. “We came in and got it. We’re mentally tough and we showed that in this game coming off the loss that we gave away in Game 1.”

Game 3 is Saturday in Denver.

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets in game 1 of the Western Conference finals on Tuesday night, 105-103.

“A good one, an important one,” Bryant commented on the win. “Like I told the guys in a timeout, this is a different series. We felt kind of down on ourselves with a slow start. … I told them to forget about that, this is a different series.”

Bryant led the game in scoring with 40 points, getting the better of his former Olympic teammate Carmelo Anthony, who finished with 39 points.

“It was a lot of fun, he’s a bull down there,” Bryant said. “I am a little out of my weight class, but I’ll give it my best shot.”

It was an exciting game 1 and hopefully the rest of the series is as entertaining and competitive.

Game 2 will be on Thursday in Los Angeles.

The Denver Nuggets are heading to their first Western Conference finals since 1985 after beating the Dallas Mavericks 124-110 on Wednesday night.

“It’s special. We worked hard in the offseason and training camp and throughout,” Carmelo Anthony said. “We stuck to everything, we overcame adversity, we stayed humble and our hard work paid off.”

Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets in points with 30 while Chauncey Billups led the team in rebounds (7) and assists (12).

“He’s a leader,” Anthony said of Billups. “He came on this team and he brought a businesslike attitude to our team. He brought a defensive mindset we were looking for.”

The Nuggets will either face the Rockets or the Lakers in the Western Conference finals.

The Dallas Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki forced another game with the Denver Nuggets after beating them 119-117 on Tuesday.

“It was an unbelievable game,” Nowitzki said. “We were down the whole game, but were able to come back and win and we’ve been doing that all season long. … We’ve got to go back to Denver and let it all hang out again.”

Nowitzki led the Mavericks with 44 points including 12 rebounds while Josh Howard, added an additional 21 points and 13 rebounds.

These 2 teams meet again on Wednesday night in Denver.
