Although Joe Paterno is currently just one game above Bobby Bowden for the most career victories ever, the legendary Penn State coach does not want the NCAA to take any wins away from his Florida State rival for academic fraud.

“The NCAA is going to do what it’s going to do, but I would hope they would not take away 10 or 12 wins away from him,” Paterno told the Reading Eagle of Pennsylvania. “I don’t think that’s fair. He coached the team he had; they played against people, and they won. They ought to be wins for them.”

Despite popular belief, Paterno and Bowden are actually very good friends.

“I’ve known Bobby for 40 years,” Paterno said. “Sue and I have gone on a lot of trips with Bobby and his wife, Ann. I think Bobby is not filled up with himself. He’s my kind of guy. He doesn’t go around blowing his horn. He’s very humble and a very, very religious guy. “He’s very, very principled. He’s not preaching. He’s not trying to convert people. He’s just a good person and a heck of a football coach.”

College Football will never be the same once these two great coaches finally decide to step away from the game.

The Penn State Nittany Lions have gave legendary coach Joe Paterno a 3-year contract extension that will take him through the 2011 season.

“There’s no reason for me not to think that I can go for a while,” Paterno said. “Now how long is a while? I don’t know.”

JoePa turns 82 this Sunday; he’ll be 85-years old at the end of this recently received contract extension, yet I have no doubt he’ll coach beyond 2011. Coaching is Paterno’s life and he’ll continue to do it until he’s 6-feet under.

Penn State’s 81-year-old football coach Joe Paterno was rushed to Mount Nittany Medical Center by ambulance after he was feeling nauseated. At the hospital JoePa learned he was suffering from apparent dehydration.

“It’s no big deal,” JoePa’s son Jay Paterno said. “If it’s dehydration, he’s probably all talked out.”

Somebody needs to force Joe Paterno to retire, he has nothing left to prove in the sport and at 81 years old his body can’t handle the stress of coaching anymore. This time he was lucky he was just suffering from dehydration but next time it could be something much worse for the old man.
