According to sources Lamar Odom has agreed to a new four-year deal worth up to $33 million with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“He makes us a much, much stronger team,” Kobe Bryant said

Odom said he has always wanted to return to Los Angeles, and he’s excited to play with Ron Artest.

“I always wanted to come back because we won the championship,” Odom said. “I’m playing for the biggest brand in the world. And I’m playing with the most fluid, talented center in the world in Pau Gasol, Andrew Bynum’s coming back and of course Kobe Bryant.

“But to now get an opportunity to play with Ron Artest, a guy I’ve known 16 years, it means a lot. I told Ron Ron a few weeks ago I couldn’t walk away. I still had to fight. Everytime negotiations didn’t go the way I thought, I just took a step back, like them pulling the offer off the table, I just knew I had to fight.”

With Odom back, the Lakers have to be the favorites to win it all. The Cavaliers are a close second, but even with Shaq they can’t compete with all the talent in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is pretty sure it’s only a matter of time before free agent Lamar Odom re-signs with the team.

“I’m optimistic that he’ll be back,” Bryant said during his news conference in Singapore. “He makes us a much, much stronger team.”

The only other team currently interested in Odom are the Miami Heat, but they arn’t even offering him as much money as the Lakers are.

Odom would be retarded not to sign back with the Lakers. Los Angeles is the perfect fit for him and he’d still make a shitload of money.

Why leave?

Phil Jackson released a statement confirming his plans to return to the Los Angeles Lakers for the final season of his coaching contract.

“After consulting with Lakers team internist Dr. John Moe, I feel confident that I can gainfully pursue an NBA season with another long playoff postseason,” Jackson said in the statement. “All things point to go!”

With the recent signing of Ron Artest the Lakers will be very hard to beat. Phil Jackson wasn’t about to pass up another attempt at a ring.

Free-agent forward Ron Artest has said he’s leaving the Houston Rockets to sign a deal, estimated to be worth $18M, with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I am happy to say I am goin’ to L.A,” Artest wrote in a text message to ESPN.

The deal is estimated to be a 3-year contract worth around $18M.

“He wants to win a ring,” David Bauman, Artest’s agent, told The Associated Press. “He’s a winner and a hard worker and he went looking for a team with whom he could find some justification for what he does. He plays his best when he’s in that kind of an environment.”

Is it possible the Lakers will be even better next season!?

The Los Angeles Lakers won their 15th NBA championship on Sunday night, beating the Orlando Magic in game 5 of the NBA Finals 99-86.

“It’s so tough to win championships,” Kobe Bryant said. “We started over from scratch. Here we are again. This really feels like a dream.”

It took Kobe 7-years but he finally proved he can win an NBA title without Shaquille O’Neal.

“Congratulations kobe, u deserve it,” O’Neal wrote on his Twitter page. “You played great. Enjoy it my man enjoy it.”

Los Angeles coach Phil Jackson now has a championship ring for each finger after winning a record 10th titles and breaking his tie with Red Auerbach as the winningest coach in NBA finals history.

“I’ll smoke the cigar tonight in memory of Red,” Jackson said. “He was a great guy.”

Congratulations to Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant and the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers!

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are just one win away from winning the NBA title after they beat the Orlando Magic 99-91 in overtime on Thursday night.

“This is the toughest [loss] because it puts us down two games and on the brink of elimination and the mood was obviously very somber,” said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy. “We’ve got a couple of days here and we’ll get it back together and come out and do everything we can to win Game 5. Everybody was very, very disappointed.”

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in scoring with 32 points but it was Derek Fisher who’d getting all the credit for the victory after he hit a clutch 3-pointer with 4.6 seconds left in regulation to force the game into overtime.

“My teammates and my coaches kept giving me that confidence to continue to believe in myself,” Fisher said after the game. “I wanted to come through for the guys.”

Game 5 will be on Sunday in Orlando. It will be interesting to see how the Magic will play now that they know they really have no chance at winning the championship.

The Orlando Magic won their first NBA finals game in franchise history on Tuesday night winning game 3 over the Los Angeles Lakers, 108-104.

Orlando made 63 percent of their shots, that’s an NBA finals record.

“Well, it was going in the basket. That always works,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. “That formula’s always tried and true.”

No one player stood out for the Magic, both Dwight Howard and Rashard Lewis scored 21 points; Rafer Alston added 20 points of his own while Hedo Turkoglu and Mickael Pietrus both scored 18.

“We’ve got to play like this,” Howard said. “When guys are attacking we’re tough to guard.”

After the game Kobe Bryant wanted to remind everyone that the Orlando Magic is actually decent team.

“This is a tough team, not a cupcake team,” Bryant said. “Extremely well coached, execute well and we’ve got our work cut out.”

Game 4 is on Thursday night.

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers looked impressive on Thursday night when they easily won game 1 of the NBA finals over the Orlando Magic, 100-75.

Coming into the game the Lakers knew they had to slow down Dwight Howard, and they did that better than anyone could have possibly imagined, holding him to just 12 points.

“We did a good job on him, but he’ll be ready to go Game 2,” Bryant said. “We worked very hard on the perimeter, keeping those guys out of rhythm, then we did a good job on him inside — giving him different looks.”

The Lakers will try to duplicate this performance in game 2 on Sunday night at the Staples Center.

The Los Angeles Lakers now lead the Western Conference finals 3-2 after beating the Denver Nuggets 103-94 on Wednesday night at the Staples Center.

Kobe Bryant led the Lakers with 22-points but Lamar Odom was the star of the night with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Pau Gasol also played his part with 14 points of his own and 10 rebounds.

After the game the Lakers were already focusing all of their attention on game 6 which will take place Friday in Denver.

“Got to come ready to play,” Kobe Bryant said. “We made a lot of mistakes the last time, the mistakes that took place were execution, and we didn’t do things at the defensive end. We’ll come ready to play.”
