The Boston Celtics are now headed to the NBA finals to take on the Lakers after they defeated the Detroit Pistons 89-81 in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

“It’s kind of surreal,” Garnett said. “Probably hasn’t even hit me yet because we haven’t slept in about four days, going on five days now. Going to the Finals, I’m just hoping to get some sleep.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Los Angeles Lakers took a 3-1 lead over the San Antonio Spurs in the western conference finals after winning a very close game 4 Tuesday night, 93-91.

It is a big step for us,” said Kobe Bryant, who led the Lakers with 28 points and 10 rebounds. “Tonight we came out and did a much, much better job to win in this building in this particular game. It’s big for us.”

Sports Crunch predicts the Lakers whoop the Spurs in game 5 and the series will come to an end Thursday night.

The San Antonio Spurs are only down 2-1 now after they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 103-84 on Sunday night — Largely thanks to Manu Ginobili.

“He is such a competitor,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after Ginobili scored 30 points in Game 3 of the series. “He puts so much on his shoulders, he fights through a lot of things. He’s got a lot of confidence in what he can do. And so when he has these games, it is really not a surprise anymore.”

Very impressive performance by the Spurs, maybe they’re not too old after all.

The Los Angeles Lakers destroyed the San Antonio Spurs 101-71 in game 2 of the western Conference finals giving the Lakers a 2-0 lead in the series.

“The old adage is you just won the games on your home court, which is the important part, and extended the series to six games,” Lakers coach Phil Jackson said. “We know that. Now, nothing happens until we win on their court. And someone wins on the other team’s court.”

The Spurs looked old and tired; I wouldn’t be surprised if they got sweeped by Kobe and the gang.

Kobe Bryant led the Los Angeles Lakers to a 89-85 win over the San Antonio Spurs in game 1 of the Western Conference finals.

“Kobe, he was doing a trust-his-teammates thing in the first half,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “That’s why he had five assists, and he was checking it all out and see where his territory was going to be. In the second half, he went to work.

Kobe only scored 2 points in the first half but in the 2nd half he took control of the game and finished with 27 points including a nice 10-foot jumper in the lane with just 23.9 seconds remaining on the clock.

The game was very close and it looks like we’re in for one hell of a series!
