Check out this save by Boston Bruins’ goalie Tim Thomas against the Tampa Bay Lightning in game 5.
Usually the only time we give hockey any sort of love here is when there’s a huge hit or a fight on the ice. Thankfully, this video clip shows the game at its best. No fighting, just hockey. And any key to a great hockey team is a great goalie. That’s exactly what the Bruins have in Tim Thomas.
Check this out sports fans! It’s the latest MMA fight on ice between NHL players Ryan Wilson vs. Jordin Tootoo. These days I’m not sure if I should call these guys hockey players or bar fighters, but either way it’s very entertaining to watch.
Unfortunately, neither guy has any idea how to fight and if either one did decide to step into a ring or cage, they’d be knocked out in the opening round. I still don’t understand why fighting is allowed in hockey, but I suppose that’s why the sport isn’t very popular to begin with. I like the game itself, but fist fights are just lame and stupid. They have nothing to do with the game.
This is a perfect example as to why I will never be a huge hockey fan. If I’m watching hockey, I want to see hockey. Not a bunch of morons trading punches like they’re in a bar fight.
Don’t get me wrong, I love watching a good fight. I’m actually a huge boxing fan and a big MMA fan too. I’m a fan of professional fighting, but not amateur fighting. If these so-called “hockey players” want to fight, they should step into a ring. Until then, play the sport you’re getting paid to play.
For the first time since 1961 the Blackhawks are bringing the Stanley Cup back to Chicago after beating the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime on Wednesday night, 4-3.
“There’s so many great things about winning a Stanley Cup. This is it,” Jonathan Toews said. “This is the best feeling you can ever get. I just can’t believe it’s happened.”
Everybody knew coming into this series that the Flyers were way over-matched, but they should all hold their heads up high because they did way better than most people expected.
Congratulations to the Blackhawks! They did what everyone expected them to do, and sometimes that can be tough to do.
Throughout the years at Sports Crunch we have had the pleasure to hear a long of amateur fan Sports Songs, but this one is definitely the cream of the crop.
Chicago Blackhawks regained their lead in the Stanley Cup series over the Philadelphia on Sunday when they destroyed the Flyers 7-4 in game five.
“Getting down there two games in their building, we had to come back with some fire and get on them and show them we weren’t going to quit,” Dustin Byfuglien said. “Right from the get-go we moved our feet and were physical.”
The Blackhawks came into game five determined to win and when they’re playing their best, the Flyers don’t stand a chance. Luckily, game six heads back to Philadelphia where the Flyers have a much better chance at winning.
Unfortunately, game 7 heads back to Chicago where the Flyers don’t stand much of a chance.
The Philadelphia Flyers will likely still ultimately lose to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals, but at least they won’t be swept! In game three on Wednesday night they were able to win in an exciting overtime by the score of 4-3.
“Right now it looks like they have the momentum in the series,” Patrick Kane said. “But if we take Game 4, then we put ourselves in a great position to go back and play in front of our home crowd and hopefully win it there.”
Realistically, the Flyers are still fighting an uphill battle and I’m sure they know that as well. Chicago is still favored to win and this game didn’t change anyone’s mind.
As much as I’d love to see the Flyers pull of the comeback, I just don’t see it happening this time around.
The Chicago Blackhawks have jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stanley Cup finals after winning again on Monday night, 2-1.
Antti Niemi was the star of the night with 32 saves for the Hawks, 14 of which came in the final period.
“It’s unbelievable feeling how the people react,” Niemi said as the crowd after the game. “Defense was the key.”
The Flyers were a clear underdog coming into this series, but not many expected the Hawks to have their way with them. Since game 3 and 4 are played in Philadelphia, maybe they can turn it around.
The Philadelphia Flyers have reached their first Stanley Cup finals since 1997 after finishing the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 on Monday night.
“I don’t want to say destiny or anything, but we have a great team,” Mike Richards said.
This means we’ll see the Flyers and the Blackhawks battle it out for the Cup in game one on Saturday. As an American I love a good underdog story, so I’ll be rooting for the Flyers to crush the dreams of Chicago fans.
But in reality the Hawks appear to have the more talented team and should be able to win it all.
