Just a few days ago it looked like the Orlando Magic were about to get swept by the Boston Celtics, but after Orlando has managed to win the past two games people are starting to wonder if they can pull off a comeback for the ages. Unfortunately for the Magic, the series now heads back to Boston which could take some of their momentum away.
“I don’t know if you can say you have momentum when you’re down 3-2 going into their place,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. “I still look at it like we’re climbing a huge mountain here. But we are playing better.”
Is it possible that they Boston Celtics are beginning to show their age and have finally ran out of gas? It’s hard to imagine, but it could be possible. If they don’t win game 6 on their home-court, they don’t have a chance in hell at taking game 7.
The Orlando Magic barely survived a four game sweep by the Boston Celtics in the East Finals on Monday. The game was close and nobody actually believe Orlando has a chance at making a comeback, but at least they’ll have a chance to travel back home.
“Got to go back to Orlando,” Dwight Howard said. “Hopefully everybody back there will be ready. Have to keep the faith.”
Superman played his heart out for most of the night with 32-points and 16-rebounds. Unfortunately for Magic fans, there’s no way in hell they’re coming back from a 3-0 deficit to beat a team as experienced as Orlando.
Whoa! Calm down, Jason! It’s not the media’s fault that the Orlando Magic is so horrible that they’re getting whooped by a bunch of old men on the Boston Celtics! You’re team sucks! Live with it!
Look on the bright side, you’re about to get a nice long vacation.
The Orlando Magic came into this series as the heavy favorites to win, but apparently they didn’t get the memo because they find themselves down 0-2 after the Boston Celtics won again on Tuesday, 95-92.
“I think we are becoming the team that started the season,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. “The team that started the season was pretty good.”
Game 3 will be on Saturday night in Boston, and Paul Pierce says they’re is no way his team will start relaxing with the early lead in the series.
“Our fans won’t let us relax,” Pierce said. “We’re going to try and close it out in four games.”
Luckily for Orlando, they’re a young team and the Celtics are old. It’s possible that the old men will wear themselves out giving the Magic a chance to get back into the series.
Heading into the NBA Playoffs most fans and analysts considered the Boston Celtics way too old to make a title run. Today, those same people are singing a different tune after the old men took game one over the Orlando Magic, 92-88.
“I honestly say we lost ourselves,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers said about this teams inconsistent regular season. “I think we’ve found ourselves again.”
After the game Orlando fans went into an immediate state of shock realizing this series isn’t going to be as easy as they’re previous two.
“Our guys aren’t going to like fall apart,” Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. “Hell, they got down 20 in this game and they didn’t collapse. That’s not our team. This is all about winning. Our team doesn’t have to prove they can bounce back from adversity and all of that. They’ve done all that.”
You can never count out an experienced veteran team like the Celtics. They have the heart of a champion and they’re not going to roll over for anybody.
If the Atlanta Hawks were smart they would throw in the towel right now and go home after the Magic embarrassed them something awful on Monday in Orlando with a one-sided, 114-71 win.
“It’s embarrassing,” Hawks point guard Mike Bibby said. “They embarrassed us.”
Come on, Mike! I don’t see anything embarrassing about a 43-point loss in the playoffs. Okay, I’m joking of course. The Hawks looked downright pathetic and if they have any respect for their fans they just shouldn’t show up for the next game. There’s no reason for this series to continue.
Yeah I know they’ve only played one game so far, but when a team loses by over 40 points you damn well know they don’t have a chance in hell.
That had to be one of the worst NBA playoff performances ever.
Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic finished their dominating first series sweep of the pathetic Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday, 99-90. After the game Bobcats head coach Larry Brown was swarmed with questions about his future with the team.
“I’m not coaching anywhere but Charlotte,” Brown said. “Now am I going to go home and talk to my wife and kids? I’ll be 70 years old with two young kids. Am I going to talk to them and find out what I need to do and am I going to talk to Michael? Yeah, absolutely.”
“I love coaching more than anything, except my family maybe. … I’m really, personally, not ready to step down in terms of my desire to keep coaching.”
I like how he says how much he loves coaching more than anything except “maybe” his family. I bet they would be glad to hear that!
Regardless of Brown’s coaching future, the Magic proved in this series that they’re a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs. It’ll be interesting to see just how far they can go.
Orlando Magic forward Rashard Lewis will have to sit out the first 10 games of the regular season after he violated the NBA’s Anti-Drug Agreement. Recently he commented on the suspension.
The NBA suspended Orlando Magic forward Rashard Lewis for 10 games on Thursday after he tested positive for a banned substance which elevated his testosterone level.
“First and foremost I take full responsibility for the situation and accept the corresponding penalty,” Lewis said in a statement after the suspension became public. Read the rest of this entry »
