For the first time since 1961 the Blackhawks are bringing the Stanley Cup back to Chicago after beating the Philadelphia Flyers in overtime on Wednesday night, 4-3.

“There’s so many great things about winning a Stanley Cup. This is it,” Jonathan Toews said. “This is the best feeling you can ever get. I just can’t believe it’s happened.”

Everybody knew coming into this series that the Flyers were way over-matched, but they should all hold their heads up high because they did way better than most people expected.

Congratulations to the Blackhawks! They did what everyone expected them to do, and sometimes that can be tough to do.

Blackhawks Regain Series Lead Over Flyers

Chicago Blackhawks regained their lead in the Stanley Cup series over the Philadelphia on Sunday when they destroyed the Flyers 7-4 in game five.

“Getting down there two games in their building, we had to come back with some fire and get on them and show them we weren’t going to quit,” Dustin Byfuglien said. “Right from the get-go we moved our feet and were physical.”

The Blackhawks came into game five determined to win and when they’re playing their best, the Flyers don’t stand a chance. Luckily, game six heads back to Philadelphia where the Flyers have a much better chance at winning.

Unfortunately, game 7 heads back to Chicago where the Flyers don’t stand much of a chance.

The Philadelphia Flyers will likely still ultimately lose to the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals, but at least they won’t be swept! In game three on Wednesday night they were able to win in an exciting overtime by the score of 4-3.

“Right now it looks like they have the momentum in the series,” Patrick Kane said. “But if we take Game 4, then we put ourselves in a great position to go back and play in front of our home crowd and hopefully win it there.”

Realistically, the Flyers are still fighting an uphill battle and I’m sure they know that as well. Chicago is still favored to win and this game didn’t change anyone’s mind.

As much as I’d love to see the Flyers pull of the comeback, I just don’t see it happening this time around.

The Chicago Blackhawks have jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stanley Cup finals after winning again on Monday night, 2-1.

Antti Niemi was the star of the night with 32 saves for the Hawks, 14 of which came in the final period.

“It’s unbelievable feeling how the people react,” Niemi said as the crowd after the game. “Defense was the key.”

The Flyers were a clear underdog coming into this series, but not many expected the Hawks to have their way with them. Since game 3 and 4 are played in Philadelphia, maybe they can turn it around.

The Montreal Canadiens were absolutely embarrassed on Sunday night when they got they’re asses whooped by the Philadelphia Flyers in the opener of the Eastern Conference finals.

“We have to analyze the game, no doubt,” Canadiens coach Jacques Martin said. “The special teams play needs to be better. It was our overall game that made us successful the first and second round and we didn’t compete the way we needed to win.”

Oh really? You didn’t compete the way you needed to win?? NO SHIT!

I don’t watch much hockey and I’m not about to start now. But I’d still be willing to lay a couple $100 on the Flyers taking this series with ease.
