The San Francisco 49ers have filed tampering charges against the New York Jets for making contact with their first round draft pick Michael Crabtree.

“These are internal matters that are handled by the league so we are not going to comment,” 49ers spokesman Bob Lange said.

Jets head coach Rex Ryan was asked about the allegations while being a guest on the ESPN radio show “Mike & Mike in the Morning.”

“We’ll let the NFL figure that one out,” Ryan said. “I think it’s ridiculous, personally. I wish we were playing them.”

Them sound like fightin’ words!

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis thinks receiver Michael Crabtree should sign his rookie contract and get his ass to camp immediately.

“He needs to get his butt here and help this team out,” Davis told ESPN. “He has a chance to be a big-time player. He should take what he can get and get here.”

Out of all the players on the 49ers roster Vernon Davis is that last one who should talk. Last October head coach Mike Singletary unloaded on Davis for being a diva who always puts himself before the team, and now he’s going to publicly call out Crabtree for doing the same?

Vernon Davis = hypocrite.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver and 10th overall draft pick Michael Crabtree is threatening to sit out the entire season and re-enter the NFL draft next year in 2010.

“We are prepared to do it,” Crabtree’s cousin and adviser David Wells said. “Michael just wants fair market value. They took him with the 10th pick and you have Darrius Heyward-Bey getting $38 million? This week is crucial. Michael was one of the best players in the draft and he just wants to be paid like one of the best players. This week is very crucial.”

Michael Crabtree hasn’t even played a down in the NFL yet but it’s already safe to assume he’d one of the dumbest receivers in the league. If he was smart he wouldn’t hire his uneducated dumbass cousin as his advisor.

There’s no way Crabtree sits out the entire season. He’s just trying to get the most money as possible, but he’s hurting his reputation by letting this dumbass speak on his behalf.

San Francisco 49ers former #1 overall draft pick Alex Smith will remain with the team after he agreed to restructure the finals two years of his contract.

“We have reached an agreement with Alex and his agent to keep him as a member of the San Francisco 49ers,” general manager Scot McCloughan said. “Alex expressed a deep interest to remain with the team and that feeling was mutual.”

The 24-year old quarterback says other teams offered him more money but he was willing to take less money just to stay with the 49ers.

“I don’t measure myself in my contract in terms of what I’m making,” said Smith. “Having gone through what I’ve gone through the last couple of years, and being on the sideline, I guess I’ve got a different perspective on this game. When it came time to restructure the contract, it wasn’t anything to do with ego. I just wanted the chance to compete.”

Alex Smith is already recognized as one of the biggest busts in NFL history but he’s still young enough to prove his critics wrong.

It didn’t take long for 49ers head coach Mike Singletary to make some changes on his staff — on Tuesday he fired offensive guru Mike Martz.

“After an evaluation period, I felt it was best to go in a different direction,” Singletary said. “This was not an easy decision because I appreciate Mike Martz, and I enjoyed working with him. He is a true professional, and I wish him the best in the future. I do recognize the need for a long-term solution on the offensive side of the ball.”

Martz is a pass happy coordinator and it’s obvious Singletary wants to have a run oriented offense.

Martz won’t have any troubls finding a new coaching gig. He could even get some consideration to fill a head coaching vacancy, but that’s doubtful — although I think he would be a perfect fit with Al Davis in Oakland.

The San Francisco 49ers have decided to keep Mike Singletary as their head coach for the future; removing the interim tag he’s had since taking over for Mike Nolan on October 21st.

“After discussions with ownership, we agree that Mike has earned the head coach position,” manager Scot McCloughan said. “I look forward to working with Mike to continue to build on the momentum he has created as we prepare for the 2009 season.”

Since taking over the team Singletary is 5-4 but the 49ers have won 4 of their last 5 games. He’s hoping that momentum carries over to next season.

“I find myself in the middle of something, feeling very fortunate to be surrounded by all of the good people around me,” said Singletary. “Now it’s just a matter of continuing to hype it up, continuing to move forward and keep our eyes on the vision that we have.”

The players love him but he’s an inexperienced coach and he’ll need time to bring in players that fit his gameplan. I’m not sure the 49ers will be patient enough.

Former MVP Kurt Warner led the Arizona Cardinals to a 29-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football.

“It would have been nice to have a blowout but hey, those games are sweet when you win,” Warner said.

“Man, it’s fun. It’s fun to pull these out. It would have been a heartbreaker to have lost it.”

As of right now, 37-year old Kurt Warner is the favorite to win the NFL’s MVP award. Against the 49ers he threw for 328 yards including 3 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Right now the Cardinals are now 6-3. If Matt Leinart was starting instead of Warner they would be 3-6.
