Neither Venus or Serena Williams were good enough to win the US Open singles championship, but together they were good enough to win their 10th Grand Slam doubles championship.

“I have a great partner,” Venus Williams said. “I believe in her just as much as I believe in myself.”

The sisters beat the defending champions Cara Black and Liezel Huber 6-2, 6-2.

“They’re bigger and stronger than us,” Huber said. “They served bigger than us and you could see it all today.”

Surprisingly, Serena lasted the entire match without killing a line judge. Looks like she’s learning to control her temper.

On Monday morning Serena Williams finally apologized to her fans and the line judge she threatened to kill during her 6-4, 7-5 semifinal loss to Kim Clijsters at the US Open.

“I want to sincerely apologize FIRST to the lines woman, Kim Clijsters, the USTA and mostly tennis fans everywhere for my inappropriate outburst,” Williams said. It was released by the U.S. Tennis Association about a half-hour before Williams and her sister, Venus, played in the women’s doubles final, which they won for their 10th Grand Slam title as a team.

“I’m a woman of great pride, faith and integrity, and I admit when I’m wrong,” she continued. “I need to make it clear to all young people that I handled myself inappropriately and it’s not the way to act — win or lose, good call or bad call in any sport, in any manner. I like to lead by example. We all learn from experiences both good and bad, I will learn and grow from this, and be a better person as a result.”

Williams was fined $10,000 for her actions and she still faces additinal fines and suspensions.

Unseeded and unranked Kim Clijsters upset the defending US Open Champion, Serena Williams, during their semifinal match on Saturday, 6-4, 7-5.

While losing the match, Williams went crazy and almost attacked a line judge for calling a fault.

“I swear to God I’m [expletive] going to take this [expletive] ball and shove it down your [expletive] throat, you hear that? I swear to God, Williams was heard telling the official.”

When Serena continued to rant, Clijsters was rewarded a penalty point.

“She was called for a foot fault, and a point later, she said something to a line umpire, and it was reported to the chair, and that resulted in a point penalty,” referee Brian Earley explained. “And it just happened that point penalty was match point. It was a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct.”

Serena’s reputation has taken a big hit because of her actions during this match. She’s an experienced player and she should know by now how to keep her temper under control. It’s too bad this whole “temper tantrum” takes away from the great play of Kim Clijsters.

Serena Williams has advanced to the US Open semifinals where she’ll take on Kim Clijsters, who eliminated her sister, Venus, from the tournament this past weekend.

Clijsters is just happy to have the opportunity to face the former champion.

“So I am surprised that I’m sitting here talking to you right now, but I’m very happy, and, you know, flattered that I get to do that.”

Serena should have no problem avenging big sis’s loss. We’re predicting a sweep.

Venus and Serena Williams remain two of the worlds most dominent female tennis players after their impressive wins on Wendesday to advance to the third round of the US Open.

As expected, both Williams sisters are exhausted from their tuff play through out the year and they’re looking forward to a nice vacation after the US Open concludes.

“Wear and tear does put a lot on your body,” Venus Williams said. “It’s September now. I started literally in December. So I guess it’s not a huge surprise that at this time of the year things start to be a little sore and start to hurt.”

If both sisters continue to win they’ll likely face off against each other in the semifinals.

Tennis starts Venus and Serena Williams are about to expand their brand into Pro Football. Currently, the sisters are in negotiations to become part owners of the Miami Dolphins.

“There have been preliminary talks, and hopefully it’ll work out,” Serena Williams said. “That would be a great opportunity for both of us. You never know. We’ll see what happens.”

The purchase will put the Williams Sisters in a small group of celebrities who have recently bought a stake in the NFL franchise. Recently, singers Gloria and Emilio Estefan and Marc Anthony have purchased shares of the team. New owner Stephen Ross has even agreed to a partnership deal with Jimmy Buffett.

The Dolphins seem more interested in selling shares to celebrities than actually trying to improve their team. Goodluck Miami!

Serena Williams beat her older sister Venus, 7-6 (3), 6-2, to win her 3rd Wimbledon title and her 11th Grand Slam championship on the 4th of July.

“It feels so amazing,” Serena said. “I’m so blessed. I feel like I shouldn’t be holding the trophy. I can’t believe I’m holding it. It’s named for Venus and she always wins.”

Before the game Serena said she tried forgetting Venus was her sister.

“I didn’t think about Venus at all today,” Serena said. “I just saw her as an opponent. At one point, after the first set, I looked on the side of the court at the stats, and it was like ‘Williams, Williams.’ I couldn’t figure out which was which.”

Serena has always been recognized as the better Williams sister, and this match proved why.

As expected, Venus and Serena Williams will face off against each other in the Wimbledon final after each sister won their semifinals match on Thursday.

“All I know is a Williams is going to win,” said the sisters’ father, Richard.

The match will be the eighth meeting between the sisters in a Grand Slam title match, and their 4th in the Wimbledon finals.

“The more we play, the better it gets,” Serena said. “When we play our match on Saturday, you know, it’s for everything. This is what we dreamed of when we were growing up in Compton 20-something years ago. This is what we worked for, and this is what we want. Like I wanted her to win today and she wanted me to win today. It’s all come down to this.”

Venus was happy to see Serena make it into the finals, but don’t don’t expect her to take it easy on little sis.

“I’m happy for her to be in the final, but I have to face her and defeat her,” Venus said. “I don’t necessarily want her to lose, but for sure I want me to win. I don’t want to see myself disappointed. I need to get my titles, too. I’m still the big sister, but I’m still going to play great tennis.”

Saturday will be an exciting day for ladies tennis.

Venus and Serena Williams are just one round away from facing each other in the Wimbledon final after the each one their quarterfinal matches on Tuesday.

“We definitely upped our levels of game today,” Serena said.

Venus was the first to make it into the semifinals with an impressive 6-2, 6-3 win over Victoria Azarenka. She’ll have a tuff match-up against top-ranked Dinara Safina on Thursday.

Serena earned her spot in the semis by beating Victoria Azarenka, 6-2 6-3. Her semifinal match-up will be against Elena Dementieva.
