Shaquille O’Neal revealed his motto for next season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“My motto is very simple,” O’Neal said. “‘Win a Ring for the King.”

Shaq knows the Cavaliers are LeBron’s team and he’ll have to play 2nd fiddle if he wants to win another championship.

“It’s LeBron’s team,” he said. “He’s the captain. This is the time in my career where I can fit in. I’m now in the security business. My job is to protect the King, and that’s what I’m here to do.”

The 37-year old center also said that he plans to play 3 more years before calling it a career.

“I have a lot left,” he said. “There’s only four or five good centers in the league and I’m in that number. … I’ve been in it [the NBA] for 17 years but I’ve missed three years because of injury. If you do the math, I’ve still got three years left. You got that?”

Make no mistake about it, the King will get his Ring in 2010.

LeBron James was the happiest guy in the world when he found out the Cleveland Cavaliers traded for Shaquille O’Neal on Thursday.

“Shaq is an incredible ballplayer and a four-time NBA champion,” James said in a statement. “I have a lot of respect for him and his game. It will be a real honor to play with Shaq as my teammates and I look forward to another great season with the Cavs.”

In order to get Shaq the Cavs sent Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic plus a 2nd pick in the 2010 draft and $500,000 to the Phoenix Suns.

“Our goals are aligned with what our players want, including LeBron, and that’s to win a championship and win it next year,” Cleveland GM Danny Ferry said. “We don’t want to be patient. We want to be a team that has sustainable success. We want to be a team like we were this year when if you don’t win a championship you lose some sleep. But at the same time we want to be more than that. We want to be the team that wins it. This was a move made towards putting ourselves in better position next season.”

Although Shaq is 37-years old he is still on of the most dominant players in the NBA when healthy and in shape. With Shaq in the lineup the Cleveland Cavaliers have to be the favorite to win it all next season.

Shaquille O’Neal will be attending Syracuse University also known as Sportscaster U to prepare for a future beyond the NBA as a broadcaster.

“I’ve been an athlete that’s sort of in advance; always thinking,” O’Neal said. “After basketball I’d love to have my own radio show, my own TV show.”

Shaq is one of the more entertaining athletes to ever live and I’m sure he’ll be a great broadcaster too. I would love to see him become one of the main NBA analysts for ESPN.
