Even though the Tennessee Titans are off to an awful 0-4 start to the season head coach Jeff Fisher is committed to Kerry Collins as his starting quarterback.

“Kerry gives us our best chance to win,” coach Jeff Fisher said. “That was my decision today, to stay with him and try and find a way to win.”

Kerry Collins is not the problem in Tennessee and Vince Young is definitely NOT the solution (unless he can play defensive tackle).

Apparently the Titans should have gave in and gave Albert Haynesworth a shit-load of money because their defense is pathetic without him.

Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Vince Young is slowly showing signs of maturity. Earlier in the week he surprised the late Steve McNair’s two younger sons and accompanied them to their school’s “Dear Dads Breakfast” at a local restaurant.

“Those are my boys,” Young said. “I wouldn’t say it was to pay anyone back; it was just out of love. Steve would do it for me. He pretty much did it for me when I was growing up. I have a history with the boys and I want to do anything I can. I am their big brother.”

Young said 11-year-old Trenton and 5-year-old Tyler had the time of their lives.

“It was a surprise, and just to see the excitement on their faces, it’s a great feeling,” Young told the Tennessean. “We had a good time eating pancakes. I had an omelet.

This was a very nice gesture by Young. Hopefully he holds true to his word and visits them on a more regular basis. We’d like to believe Young did this out of the kindness of his hear, but we can’t help but wonder why he didn’t visit them any sooner.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won the NFL regular season opener over the Tennessee Titans in overtime on Thursday night, 13-10. However, the win might have cost them their best player, Troy Polamalu, for 3-6 weeks with a MCL sprain.

“It is speculation at this point [how long he will be out],” Steelers’ coach Mike Tomlin said.

The final score of the game pretty much tells the whole story. It was a back and forth defensive battle with very few big plays on offense. In the end, the Steelers were the slightly better football team.

“It’s nice to know we can win close games,” Jeff Reed, who kicked the game winning field goal, said. “This is my eighth year here and I’ve been in a lot of close games, and we usually are on the up side of those.”

Our opinions of both teams have not changed. Barring any major injuries, they will both be in the playoffs.

Suicidal quarterback Vince Young is telling the Tennessee Titans they better play him or trade him in the upcoming 2009 NFL season.

“I definitely want to get back out there playing ball and picking up where I left off, winning games and having a good time with my teammates and with the fans,” Young told Baltimore’s WMAR-TV. “At the same time, if them guys don’t want me to be in there, it’s time for me to make a career change for myself. Because the fact is I’m ready to play ball. If they’re not ready for me to play ball, then somebody is.”

Sorry Vince, but you’re just not that good. Kerry Collins is way better at running the Titans offense and unlike you, his teammates actually respect him. Sit on the bench; keep your mouth shut and maybe you’ll get another chance to start in 2010.

The 0-16 Detroit Lions have hired Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz as their new head coach.

“After an extensive search that included several highly qualified coaches, we are thrilled that Jim Schwartz will become our team’s head coach,” Lions president Tom Lewand said. “[General manager] Martin [Mayhew] and I believe that Jim’s qualifications and vision will lead this organization on the field toward our goal of becoming a championship football team.”

I’ve been convinced for awhile that the Lions will always suck and this hiring certainly doesn’t change my mind.

Congratulations Schwartz, your the new head coach of the worst team EVER! Look on the bright side, they can’t get any worse.

Despite a rookie quarterback, the Baltimore Ravens went on the road and upset the Tennessee Titans 13-10 to advance to the AFC Championship game.

“We’ve been confident in ourselves all year,”Rookie QB Joe Flacco said. “It seems like we’ve been on the road for the longest time. It doesn’t matter to us. We’re going to go out there and battle the crowd, battle the other team, and give it our best.”

The game looked headed towards overtime but Flacco was able to lead his team into field goal range and with just 53 seconds left, kicker Matt Stover booted a 43 yarder through the uprights.

“I would say this would be the No. 1 [kick in my career],” Stover said. “but we’ve got some more kicks, too. So let’s just be humble about that.”

Eventually we keep thinking Flacco will realize he’s a rookie and make a huge mistake that cost the Ravens the game but so far he’s played like a savvy vet. If he can continue to do that, and their defense continues to shut down opposing offenses, they could end up being the Super Bowl champs.
