Inspired by Eric Wood breaking his leg today, I just spent an hour on YouTube looking at old videos of football players getting hurt, apparently because I really enjoy cringing.
Here are some of the worst I’ve come across, in no particular order:
Lawrence Taylor Breaks Joe Theismann
Possibly the most famous NFL injury of all time, this has seen a lot of renewed interest lately because of the movie The Blind Side which leads off with this clip. Read the rest of this entry »
Eric Wood breaking his leg is one of the more gruesome NFL videos you’ll ever see, so if you’re at all squeamish I’d recommend not watching. This might be the greatest soccer taunting of all time, check it out at about the :20 second mark, the goalie does some cartwheels to warm up which isn’t too appreciated.
I watched this live and thought there was no way the mare Zenyatta could come back after starting on the wrong lead, but come back she did. This might be in a movie someday, one of the most incredible races I’ve ever seen.
It turns out Florida’s Brandon Spikes is something of a dirty player. CBS ignored it at the time, but fans didn’t, getting this video of Brandon Spikes eye gouging a Washaun Ealey against Georgia on Saturday.
Spikes has been suspended for one half of this weekend’s game against Vanderbilt, a punishment which doesn’t seem all that harsh considering the opponent.
Check out this amazing behind the back pass at a high school football game in Louisiana between Central and Zachary during a two point conversion attempt.
Dante Wesley of the Carolina Panthers was ejected today for a ridiculous hit on punt returner who had called for a fair catch. How big do you think Wesley’s fine is going to be for this hit?
The losing coach really doesn’t have anyone to blame but himself, his kids should know the rules. You play until the whistle blows. This happened at a game in Michigan between Canton Plymouth High and Westland John Glenn.
