Vitali Klitschko retained his WBC heavyweight championship on Saturday night when he scored an 11th round TKO against previously undefeated Cris Arreola.

“I know I was hurting him a lot but he has a great, great chin,” Klitschko said. “I was surprised he did not come out [for the 11th round].”

During the post fight interview with HBO’s Larry Merchant, Arreola grabed the microphone and cried like a little baby while apologizing to all of his fans.

“I’m so sorry, I really wanted to be champion,” Arreola said while crying his eyes out. “I never wanted to quit.”

Arreola does deserves some credit for his performance. He never stopped trying and he put up a much better fight than most expected. Against Wladimir Klitschko he may have had a better chance, but Vitali has a better chin and better conditioning than his younger brother.

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is set to defend his belt against the undefeated Chris Arreola on Sept. 26 in Los Angeles.

“I am very pleased that the negotiations have been successfully concluded and that we can offer fans worldwide the fight that everyone wants to see,” Klitschko’s management group said in a statement. “Vitali and Chris Arreola are both known as hard punchers and few experts believe this fight will go the distance.”

Unlike his brother Wladimir, Vitali isn’t fighting a push over. Arreola is a very exciting young talent, with knock out power in both fists. I’m not sure he’s experienced enough to pull off the upset, but he has a shot. We’ll be watching.

David Haye continued to duck both Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko on Wednesday when he signed to fight a no talent circus freak named Nikolai Valuev for the WBA heavyweight championship on November 7th in Germany.

“I am thrilled to announce that my dream of becoming world heavyweight champion will be realized on Nov. 7 when I challenge the tallest and heaviest champion of all time, Nikolai Valuev,” the former cruiserweight champion said. “Valuev’s known as ‘The Beast From The East’ and there’s a reason he’s got that nickname. He’s a big, ugly, sweaty and hairy man from the Eastern Bloc. David only needed a slingshot and a stone to flatten Goliath and I’m convinced my right hand generates more power than a stone.”

Haye is obviously scared to death of both Klitschko brothers and he knows they would both whoop his ass. Valuev poses no threat to any fighter with an ounce of talent, so it should be an easy victory for Haye.

Vitali Klitschko retained his WBC heavyweight belt on Saturday when he easily defeated Juan Carlos Gomez in the 9th round by a TKO.

“I thought I gave Vitali a very hard fight but I realized it wasn’t enough,” Gomez said. “He was so tall and so heavy.”

Klitschko was 3-inches taller than his 6-4 opponent and 19 pounds heavier.

“I knew that he was a world-class boxer,” Klitschko said. “I said before that the fight would not be easy.”

I believe Vitali is much better than his brother Wladimir but of course they will never fight each other. It’s a sad time for the heavyweight division of boxing.

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will defend his belt against former undisputed cruiserweight champ David Haye in June 2009.

“I have said from day one I am going to be the undisputed cruiserweight and heavyweight champion,” Haye said. “I have not disappointed. I am not cherry-picking, I am going after the most dangerous fighter on the planet.

Haye said the fight made sense for both sides.

“We sat down and talked numbers that made sense for both sides, and it’s done and dusted,” Haye said. “We agreed terms and just need to dot the i’s and cross the t’s. Plain and simple, this is how boxing should be.”

Haye completely cleaned out the cruiserweight division but he has never really been tested as a heavyweight. He has a lot of talent but he may be top small to beat a much stronger fighter like Vitali.

The exacty date and location of the fight has not yet been decided.

The Klitschko brothers, Vitali and Wladimir, hold 4 of the 5 world heavyweight championship belts and now they want to get their 5th and final belt.

“It will be a difficult fight,” Vitali Klitschko said after challenging WBA title holder Russian Nikolai Valuev.

“But we have a dream, and we are going to make it come true, by taking the last belt for the Klitschko family.”

Either Klitschko brother would easily defeat the 7-foot Valuev. He’s tall and appears to be very strong but he also has the slowest hand speed of any heavyweight to ever strap on the gloves.

After winning the WBC heavyweight belt with his easy victory over Samuel Peter, Vitali Klitschko wrapped his hands in his sons used diapers to reduce swelling.

“Baby wee is good because it’s pure, doesn’t contain toxins and doesn’t smell,” Klitshcko said.

“I wrap nappies filled with my 3-year-old son Max’s wee around my fists. The nappies hold the liquid and the swelling stays down.”

So Urine has the power to reduce swelling? …I wonder how that was discovered….
