Roger Federer won his record 15th Grand Slam title after beating Andy Roddick, 5-7, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5), 3-6, 16-14, in a record-breaking match.

“It’s not really one of those goals you set as a little boy, but man, it’s been quite a career and quite a month,” Federer said. “It feels amazing, but this is not why I’m playing tennis to break all sort of different records. But it’s definitely one of the greatest ones to have.”

The match went 30 games in the 5th set and lasted 4 hours and 16 minutes.

“It’s frustrating at times because I couldn’t break Andy till the very, very end,” said Federer. “So satisfaction is maybe bigger this time around to come through, because I couldn’t control the match at all.”

Even though he lost Roddick played the best tennis of his life and he should be proud of his performance.

“I was just trying to survive each time and hold serve and give myself a shot,” Roddick said. “It didn’t work out, but I definitely gave myself a look.”

Congratulations to both Federer and Roddick for playing their hearts out and putting on one heck of a show.

Serena Williams beat her older sister Venus, 7-6 (3), 6-2, to win her 3rd Wimbledon title and her 11th Grand Slam championship on the 4th of July.

“It feels so amazing,” Serena said. “I’m so blessed. I feel like I shouldn’t be holding the trophy. I can’t believe I’m holding it. It’s named for Venus and she always wins.”

Before the game Serena said she tried forgetting Venus was her sister.

“I didn’t think about Venus at all today,” Serena said. “I just saw her as an opponent. At one point, after the first set, I looked on the side of the court at the stats, and it was like ‘Williams, Williams.’ I couldn’t figure out which was which.”

Serena has always been recognized as the better Williams sister, and this match proved why.

As expected, Venus and Serena Williams will face off against each other in the Wimbledon final after each sister won their semifinals match on Thursday.

“All I know is a Williams is going to win,” said the sisters’ father, Richard.

The match will be the eighth meeting between the sisters in a Grand Slam title match, and their 4th in the Wimbledon finals.

“The more we play, the better it gets,” Serena said. “When we play our match on Saturday, you know, it’s for everything. This is what we dreamed of when we were growing up in Compton 20-something years ago. This is what we worked for, and this is what we want. Like I wanted her to win today and she wanted me to win today. It’s all come down to this.”

Venus was happy to see Serena make it into the finals, but don’t don’t expect her to take it easy on little sis.

“I’m happy for her to be in the final, but I have to face her and defeat her,” Venus said. “I don’t necessarily want her to lose, but for sure I want me to win. I don’t want to see myself disappointed. I need to get my titles, too. I’m still the big sister, but I’m still going to play great tennis.”

Saturday will be an exciting day for ladies tennis.

Roger Federer earned his 21st consecutive semifinal at a Grand Slam tournament on Wednesday after after beating Ivo Karlovic, 6-3, 7-5, 7-6 (3) at Wimbledon.

“I love the record I have of reaching so many semifinals in Grand Slams in a row — 21 is quite a number,” Federer said. “It shows how consistent I’ve been.”

Federer’s semifinal opponent will be Germany’s Tommy Haas, who came into the tournament as the 24th-seed. Hass upset fourth-seeded Novak Djokovic 7-5, 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-3 on Wednesday.

Andy Roddick and Andy Murray will face each other in the Wimbledon semifinals after each won their quarterfinals matchup on Wednesday. Murray easily defeated Juan Carlos Ferrero 7-5, 6-3, 6-2, while Roddick won a competitive match against 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt 6-3, 6-7 (10), 7-6 (1), 4-6, 6-4.

“I feel confident because I’ve won a lot of matches on the grass,” Murray said. “But every day, when I get up to play the matches, I know that I’m going to have to perform very well, and that gets the nerves and the adrenaline going and makes me play better.”

Murray will be the favorite to win their match, but our money is on Roddick to pull off the upset.

Venus and Serena Williams are just one round away from facing each other in the Wimbledon final after the each one their quarterfinal matches on Tuesday.

“We definitely upped our levels of game today,” Serena said.

Venus was the first to make it into the semifinals with an impressive 6-2, 6-3 win over Victoria Azarenka. She’ll have a tuff match-up against top-ranked Dinara Safina on Thursday.

Serena earned her spot in the semis by beating Victoria Azarenka, 6-2 6-3. Her semifinal match-up will be against Elena Dementieva.

Tennis fans are awaiting the most entertaining Wimbledon quarterfinals in years after Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Andy Roddick all advanced on Monday.

“I’m having so much fun,” Roddick said. “I love playing here. It really is an honor, and that’s something that is never lost on me.”

For the first time in years there is reason to be excited about the men’s Wimbledon quarterfinals. Although Federer has to be the favorite all four of these guys have the skills to win it all.

It should be fun to watch.

Unknown tennis hottie Gisela Dulko upset fellow tennis babe Maria Sharapova in their 2nd round match at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

“I had so many easy balls, and I just made unforced errors from those,” Sharapova said. “When I’ve had those situations before, those balls would be pieces of cake, and today they weren’t.”

At first I was very saddened to hear we would no longer be able to see a sweaty Sharapova at Wimbledon this year. But once I found some pictures of Gisela Dulko, I forgot all about it. Turns out she’s easy on the eyes too!

Despite battling knee pain for months Rafael Nadal will attempt to defend his Wimbledon title next Tuesday.

“I am going to give my 200 percent to be ready for the most important tournament in the world,” Nadal said. “I will not go out and play, especially on the Wimbledon Centre Court, if I am not 100 percent ready to play. I have two difficult weeks ahead of me, especially because I won’t be doing what I like doing most, which is to play tennis.”

Physician Dr. Angel Ruiz-Cotorro said Nadal has tendinitis in both knees but they’re hoping a mix of physical therapy and anti-inflammatories will help him cope with the pain.

“His treatment will involve oral anti-inflammatories, physiotherapy, as well as muscular exercises for both quadriceps,” Ruiz-Cotorro said

The best thing for Nadal to do right now would probably be to skip Wimbledon and take some time off to rest his knees. But being the competitor he is, that’s not going to happen.
