The Kansas City Chiefs have traded future hall of fame tight end Tony Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons for an undisclosed 2010 draft pick.
“It’s somewhat bittersweet,” Gonzalez said. “I love Kansas City. I grew up in Kansas City. The city means a lot to me. I got there when I turned 21. It will be sad to leave a city I love. But I’m looking forward to making a Super Bowl run in Atlanta every year for the next three or four years.”
Gonzalez has wanted out of Kansas City for the past few years so he would get a chance to play for a Super Bowl contender. The Falcons are not necessarily a favorite to make the Super Bowl next year but they have a better team than the Chiefs and a much better passing game with QB Matt Ryan and WR Roddy White.
