Cliff Lee Wins AL Cy Young
Cleveland Indians pitcher Cliff Lee has won the American League Cy Young award receiving 24 of 28 first-place votes and 132 points overall.
“I knew pretty early that it was going to be a special year, I really did,” Lee said.
“But I also knew that I had to keep my mind in the moment, keep doing my work, not cut any corners.”
Winning the award has put Lee in an elite group with Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry and former teammate CC Sabathia as the only Cleveland Indians to win the award.
Toronto Blue Jays righty Roy Halladay finished 2nd in voting.
