Colts introduce their new head coach
Jim Caldwell will be taking over as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts after Tony Dungy’s decision to retire.
On Tuesday he held a press conference to introduce himself to the media.
“He’s very tough to follow,” Caldwell said. “But I’m not competing with Tony. I want to build on the success we have had and move forward.”
Many well known coaches have high praise for Caldwell, including Joe Paterno.
“Jim was one of the best assistant coaches I’ve ever had at Penn State,” Paterno said. “I thought he did a great job as the head coach at Wake Forest, and Jim will do a great job as the head coach of the Colts.”
With all the talent on the Colts team Caldwell will be expected to lead them deep into the playoffs in just his first season as a head coach. Everybody in Indianapolis needs to understand Caldwell isn’t Dungy and they shouldn’t expect the same kind of results.
