David Reutimann earned his first career Sprint Cup Series race, winning the rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600 on Monday.

“It wasn’t the prettiest win, but somebody has to win,” Reutimann said. “When you envision yourself winning your first Sprint Cup race, you envision it different. But it’s so hard to win these deals, we’ll take it any way we can.”

The victory was also the first for Michael Waltrip Racing.

“Waltrip gave me an opportunity to go racing in the Cup series when nobody would have thought of giving me an opportunity,” Reutimann said.

Ryan Newman finished 2nd with Robby Gordon rounding out the top 3.
