Derrick Rose named NBA Rookie of the Year

Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose won the NBA Rookie of the Year by a landslide on Wednesday. He received 111 first-place votes and 574 points from a national group of sports journalists and broadcasters; beating runner-up O.J. Mayo who only received 5 first place votes and 127 points.
“When I first came into the season, my biggest thing was to get this award,” Rose said. “I was telling you all that I didn’t care, but I did. You really do want this award. There was a lot of talent out there that I had to go against.”
Without Rose, the Bulls would be a disaster. The voters were 100% right; Rose deserved the award way more than Mayo or anybody else.
