Fido off the menu in Beijing

Chinese dogs are doing a jig. In a bid to minimize the cultural shock for their Western visitors, Beijing government has launched an appeal for the local restaurants to remove dog meat dishes off their menus during the Olympics.
China has a long tradition of serving dog meat – it is believed to have healing properties and that it can help people who suffer from frequent nightly urinations and high blood pressure.
Some restaurants have already taken dog meat off their menus, while some have decided to proceed as normal.
At Sports Crunch, we think the real reason they’re doing this is to keep PETA from starting a nude celebrity campaign in China.
