Vikings quarterback Gus Frerotte actually thinks Minnesota will keep him around and make him their starting QB for the 2009 season instead of signing a different quarterback in free agency.

“I was only in the offense for six months, so I should get a lot better with another year under my belt,” Frerotte said. “I think I’ve earned the right to be a starter. It wasn’t handed to me. I went in and played well and gave everything I had to the team.”

Frerotte was 8-3 as their starter last season until he suffered an injury and was replaced by Tarvaris Jackson. But his record as their starter doesn’t tell the whole story; with each game he got progressively worse. The only reason the Vikings won any games last season is because they have the best back in the National Football League Adrian Peterson.

If the Vikings start Frerotte for any amount of games next season they need to fire head coach Brad Childress on the spot.
