James Harrison wins Defensive Player of the Year over Ware & Reed
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison has been named AP Defensive Player of the Year over Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware and Ravens safety Ed Reed.
“His whole attitude about football, I think he works harder than anybody else in this locker room,” Harrison’s teammate James Farrior said. “He has a great work ethic. He’s very tuned in to what he has to do to make himself better. That’s all he strives for, to try to be better than anybody else, and you can see his determination when he’s out there on the field.
Farrior is a great player and undoubtedly one of the best defenders in the league but if I had a vote it would have been for Ed Reed without hesitation. Not only is he the best defensive player in the game today, he’s one of the best defensive players this game has ever seen.
Harrison received 22 votes, Ware 13, Reed 8, Albert Haynesworth 5, and Troy Polamalu received 2.
