Jimmie Johnson wins third NASCAR Sprint Cup title
Jimmie Johnson has tied Cale Yarborough’s 30-year record by winning a 3rd consecutive Sprint Cup title.
“I could go race again next week and start the season and go for four,” Johnson said after Sunday’s finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
“It’s on our minds. It’s not that we’re chasing a number, we just know what we’re capable of. We know we can do better. It’s a search to do the best we can.”
Just moments after winning the championship, crew chief Chad Knaus was already determined to win 4 in a row next year.
“We want four. Why not? That’s why we’re here,” Knaus said. “We can definitely bid for four. Give me a reason why not.”
If Johnson & crew can pull-off a 4th Sprint Cup championship next season he will be nationally recognized as the best NASCAR driver to ever live.
Can he do it?
