Although it has still not been decided whether or not Newcastle will take on Joey Barton after he gets released from jail where he is serving a sentence for an assault, some have concerns that if he indeed is sacked he might become suicidal.

Sam Allardyce who was the one who brought Joey Barton to Newcastle thinks Barton might take his own life in case he does get his contract terminated:

“If Newcastle sack Joey it will be another punishment and defeat the objective of him trying to put things right and become a better person… We have had people in the past commit suicide because they couldn’t cope with life after professional football… We didn’t have any problems with him up at Newcastle. It was only when he went back to Liverpool and he went out drinking that the problems occurred.”

I’d beg to differ.

If I am not mistaken he attacked his fellow teammate as they were walking off the pitch – was he drunk then?

While I am all for second chances, one has to wonder if Barton got too many free passes already?
