The Dallas Mavericks only needed 5 games to send the Spurs our of the playoffs, beating San Antonio 106-93 on Tuesday night.

“It was a tough series,” said Mavsguard Jason Terry said. “Obviously our bitter rival, but I think everybody came to play.”

Dirk Nowitzki scored 31 points to help his team win their first playoff series since 2006 while the loss is the first time the Spurs have lost in the first round since 2000.

“The Mavs beat the Spurs,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. “They’re the best team, and that’s that.”
