The Philadelphia Eagles benched quarterback Donovan McNabb due to poor performance at halftime of the Eagles 36-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

“My first (reaction) was, ‘Wow.’ But you go along with it,” McNabb said. “I am upset about us losing the game, and I’m upset that I wasn’t able to contribute. But I am going to focus on trying to help this team get better by eliminating mistakes and turnovers.”

Head coach Andy Reid hoped the QB change would boost his teams energy.

“I thought it might be a little bit of a spark, and we might be able to get some things going,” said Reid

Unfortunately, McNabb’s replacement Kevin Kolb wasn’t any better. He only completed 10 of 23 passes for 73 yards, no touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

“Obviously, it didn’t go good and I’m not going to pretend that it did,” Kolb said.

Although nothing is set in stone, don’t ever expect to see McNabb take another snap under center for the Eagles unless Kolb suffers an injury. His playing days in Philadelphia are obviously over. But he’ll get a chance to start for a different team in 2009.
