Just hours after benching Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has announced McNabb will remain his starter over Kevin Kolb.

“Donovan is the quarterback. I don’t want to leave here until you understand that,” Andy Reid said. “Donovan is the quarterback for this football team.”

Reid tried hard t oconvince the media that this decision had nothing to do with Kolb’s poor performance after taking over for McNabb.

“Sometimes you have to step back to step forward in a positive way and Donovan will do that,” Reid said. “This has nothing to do with Kolb’s performance or Donovan’s performance.”

McNabb isn’t the entire problem with the Eagles but he’s part of it. His best days are obviously behind him and I wonder how much fire he has left. Sometimes it seems like he’s just going through the motions and has no real desire to win the game.

Regardless of what happens in Philadelphia’s remaining 5 games of the season, there is no way McNabb is with the team next season.
