Mickelson Wins Tour Championship; Tiger Takes FedEx Cup

Phil Mickelson capped off his dramatic Summer by winning the Tour Championship on Sunday, while Tiger Woods took home a tiny little $10 million dollar check for winning the FedEx Cup.
“I like the way today went,” Mickelson said after winning the Championship. “I was two back of him, I beat him by three. He gets the $10 million check, and I get $1 million. I’ve got no problem with that. I just love holding this finally.”
Mickelson also won an additional $3 million for taking 2nd place behind Tiger for the FedEx cup.
Meanwhile, Woods wasn’t happy with just winning $10 million – he wanted to win it all.
“I’m sure I would probably be more happy tomorrow than I am right now, because you’re in the moment trying to win this event,” Woods said. “Winning takes care of everything. But when you’re in the moment out there, I’m trying to win a golf tournament. I’m trying to beat Phil, he’s trying to beat me … we’re all there, and it was just a great leaderboard.”
Woods usually always gets the best of Mickelson, but it’s nice to see Lefty win one every once and awhile. It’s too bad he can’t compete with Tiger on a more consistent basis.
