Even though Joey Barton got another chance with his Newcastle bosses, Nike was not so forgiving.

The disgraced soccer player saw his contract with Nike terminated.

Spokesperson for Nike stated: “We have provision in all our sponsorship contracts that take into account any actions by an athlete that bring the brand into disrepute…While Joey is a talented footballer, we cannot condone or accept what he did.”

Quite rightly so. Someone should explain to Joey Barton that “Just Do It” does not apply to beating a teenager unconscious.
