Negotiations for a super fight between Oscar De La Hoya and the best pound for pound boxer in the world Manny Pacquiao have broken down after disagreeing on a fair revenue split. Pacquiao wants 40% of the purse while Se La Hoya only wants to give him 30%.

“Richard [Schaefer] (Golden Boy Promotions CEO) and I had a good meeting and we resolved the other issues,” Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum said. “Oscar wanted 70-30 and Richard and I figured that there would be room for movement. Oscar was supposed to come in [to Los Angeles] this week to meet with Richard in person, but he didn’t make it and had to do it on the telephone. Oscar was adamant about it being 70-30 or no deal. Richard told me that and that I transmitted it to Pacquiao and his people in the Philippines. They told me that there was no deal and to look to make another fight.”

If this fight were to happen the weight limit would be set at 147-pounds, thats 12 pounds heavier than Pacquiao’s current fighting weight of 135 pounds. Manny would look like a midget compared to De La Hoya. Even though Pacquiao is a better pound for pound boxer than Oscar, he would be way to small to compete against De La Hoya.
