After taking a brutal beating from Manny Pacquiao back in December, the Golden Boy, Oscar De La Hoya has announced his retirement from the sport of boxing.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s over,” De La Hoya said. “It’s over inside the ring for me.”

De La Hoya will be remembered as one of the best boxer in his era; during his career he won 10 world titles in six divisions.

“This is the love of my life, boxing is my passion, boxing is what I was born to do,” the 36-year-old said. “When I can’t do it anymore, when I can’t compete at the highest level, it’s not fair. It’s not fair to me, it’s not fair to the fans, it’s not fair to nobody.”

De La Hoya finishes his career with a record of 39-6 and 30 knockouts.

Thanks for the memories Oscar! Don’t ever 2nd guess this decision. You should have retired years ago.
