Osi Umenyiora Out for the Season
The New York Giants has lost their Pro Bowl defensive end Osi Umenyiora for the entire 2008 NFL season due to a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee.
“My number one concern is about Osi,” Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said. “I did talk to him on the phone a short while ago and told him that he is in everyone’s thoughts and prayers.”
Umenyiora is scheduled to have surgery on Tuesday and his recovery period is expected to last about four months.
The New York Giants are expected to try and talk 36-year-old future hall of famer Michael Strahan out of his retirement to fill Umenyiora’s void.
