The New England Patriots have signed veteran safety John Lynch to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million.

“I still have a great passion for the game of football,” Lynch said after the Denver Broncos released him a few weeks ago. “I still very much love it in my heart. I still feel like I can compete at a Pro Bowl level, but the situation is going to have to be right. I’m not going to just play for any team or any situation.”

Lynch and Rodney Harrison should work perfect together. They’re both similiar in the way they play the safety position and they’ll be able to share snaps so they don’t get worn down.
