The New England Patriots must feel comfortable with Tom Brady’s recover from major knee surgery. On Saturday they traded Matt Cassel and veteran linebacker Mike Vrabel to the Chiefs for the 34th pick in the 2009 NFL draft.

“I have a long history with both players,” Chiefs General Manager Scott Pioli said. “Mike and Matt are men that I respect both personally and professionally. I look forward to having them as new members of the Chiefs family.”

A second round draft pick may not seem a lot for those two guys but the Patriots desperately needed the cap space to upgrade their talent at other positions, especially on defense. Belichick has always been active in free agency and this trade gives him plenty of space to play around with.
