Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder beat out Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard and Texas outfielder Nelson Cruz to win the Home Run Derby on Monday night.
“It’s what I expected. This is Albert’s stadium and Ryan is from here,” Fielder said. “I was just happy I was able to put on a show and I’m glad I won.”
Pujols was the favorite to win the Derby but he was eliminated in the 2nd round after only hitting 6 homers.
“I wish I would have put a better show for our fans,” Pujols said. “I was nervous a little bit.”
Fielder proved why he’s one of the best sluggers in baseball while Pujols disappointed all of his fans with a pathetic performance.
