It took Jeff Garcia longer than expected, but the 39-year old finally found a new team on Monday when he agreed to a 1-year deal with the Oakland Raiders.

Garcia was hoping he could have found a team interested in starting him, but the former 4-time Pro Bowler had to settle for a back-up role behind JaMarcus Russell in Oakland.

Fortunately for Garcia, Russell hasn’t proved anything as a starter in NFL yet and if he struggles early on next season Garcia could get the starting nod by week 5.

Garcia still has a lot left in the tank and he knows how to win football games. This is the best signing Al Davis had made in years.
