The New Orleans Saints have placed Reggie Bush on injured reserve, ending his season 2 games earlier than expected.

Bush had high expectations coming out of colelge and so far he has been a bust, but his teammates think he’s slowly getting better.

“Certainly, expectations have probably been higher on him than any guy, maybe in the history of the league coming in,” Saints quarterback Drew Brees said. “He continues to get better, a little bit better every day, and I think that needs to be his mind-set. Just forget what people think, media or otherwise, and just worry about getting better every day and worry about what you need to do to help this team win.”

The Saints placed him on IR due to a sprained left knee but the injury isn’t considered serious and won’t require surgery.

“He wouldn’t be put on IR if we had more than two weeks or three weeks left in the season,” Saints head coach Sean Payton said. “In other words, the news is fairly good, which is encouraging. It’s not torn.”

New Orleans should try to trade him this offseason and make Pierre Thomas their feature back for the future. He’s performed much better than Bush and more importantly, he can run up the middle.
