Shane Mosley takes Margarito to school
“Sugar” Shane Mosley is back on top of the boxing world after he destroyed Antonio Margarito Saturday night in front of 20,820 screaming fans at the Staples Center.
“It was my strategy, my focus and my game plan. I had a good coach,” Mosley said, trying to explain his dominating performance. “I knew it was a tough fight, but it was a great plan. It was my left hook. I caught [Fernando] Vargas with it and [Ricardo] Mayorga with it. He’s a very tough fighter and he had a lot of endurance.”
43 seconds into the 9th round, the Tijuana Tornado was knocked out for the first time in his career.
“I prepared very hard. I trained hard so I was focused and I was always alert during the fight,” Mosley said. “He was very powerful but he couldn’t resist my rhythm.”
This fight will most likely setup a rematch between Mosley and Miguel Cotto; Cotto won their first match by a unanimous decision.
