Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte’ Stallworth pleaded guilty to killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida. Stallwort agreed to a plea bargain that will require him to serve 30 days in jail. After his jail time he will also be required to serve 2-years of house arrest and spend eight years on probation.

“I accept full responsibility for this horrible tragedy,” said Stallworth. “I will bear this burden for the rest of my life.”

Wow, if any normal person would have committed this crime they would be serving the rest of their life in jail. Lucky for Stallworth, money rules the world. Another rich & famous murderer goes free.

Donte drunk-driving hits & kills someone…. 1 month in prison! Is “very remorseful” & offered to pay restitution to the victims’ family. Judge sees him out getting his income & helping the family as better than incarceration…

Natural response for many of us: He got off WAY, WAY too easy… Definitely!

BUT, I wonder: any possibility we should encourage expansion of this “type” of penalty to MANY people?! Maybe a possibility giving some of our not-so-famous convicted citizens an opportunity to grow, give back substantially & NOT be submerged into the incaceration world of career crime?

What do you think?
